§1
Can. 1379 §1. The following incur a latae sententiae penalty of interdict or, if he is a cleric, also of suspension: 1° one who attempts the liturgical action of the eucharistic sacrifice though not promoted to the sacerdotal order; 2° in addition to the case mentioned in can. 1384, one who, though unable to give sacramental absolution validly, attempts to impart it or who hears sacramental confession.
§2
Can. 1379 §2. In the cases mentioned in §1, other penalties can be added according to the gravity of the delict, not excluding excommunication.
§3
Can. 1379 §3. Both one who attempts to confer holy orders on a woman and the woman who attempts to receive holy orders, incur a latae sententiae excommunication reserved to the Apostolic See; moreover, a cleric can be punished with dismissal from the clerical state.
§4
Can. 1379 §4. One who deliberately administers a sacrament to those who are prohibited from receiving it, is to be punished with suspension, to which can be added other penalties from can. 1336 §§2-4.
§5
Can. 1379 §5. Besides the cases mentioned in §§1-4 and in can. 1384, one who simulates the administration of a sacrament is to be punished with a just penalty.
