Can. 1377 §1. One who gives or promises something so that someone who exercises an office or function in the Church will do or omit something illegitimately is to be punished with a just penalty according to the norm of can. 1336 §§2-4; likewise, one who accepts such gifts or promises is to be punished according to the gravity of the delict, not excluding privation of office, without prejudice to the obligation to repair harm.
