Can. 1338 §1. The expiatory penalties listed in can. 1336 never affect powers, offices, tasks, rights, privileges, faculties, favors, titles, or insignia that are not subject to the power of the superior who establishes the penalty.

Can. 1338 §2. Privation of the power of orders is not possible but only a prohibition against exercising it or some of its acts; likewise, privation of academic degrees is not possible.

Can. 1338 §3. The norm given in can. 1335 §2 for censures must be observed for the prohibitions listed in can. 1336 §3.

Can. 1338 §4. Only those expiatory penalties can be latae sententiae that are listed as prohibitions in can. 1336 §3 or others that may have been established by law or precept.
§5
Can. 1338 §5. The prohibitions mentioned in can. 1336 §3 are never under the pain of nullity.
